A Fresno woman, 62, was killed in a car accident on Interstate 5 near Bakersfield on Sunday.

Sumiko Imamura was killed when the SUV she was riding in was struck by a big rig that lost its brakes. She was ejected from the SUV and died at the scene.

The driver of the big rig was not able to get to the emergency exit. The rig continued for another six miles, crashing into several other vehicles before finally coming to rest.

Three others were injured and all northbound lanes were closed for two hours due to the debris strewn about the highway from the crash.

The crash is still being investigated by California Highway Patrol.
